Alexis Martin

Grand Serenade for 3 Horns op.2

Almost nothing can be found about the composer Alexis Martin. It can be assumed that Martin lived in Paris and played the horn. Some compositions are passed of in prints, for instance 20 duos for two horns, fantasy for horn and piano, Serenade Espanola op.7 for 4 horns and  fantasy for horn and orchestra.

This Grand Serenade was published as op.2 by Gaveaux in Paris and was dedicated Baron de Moltz. It was composed some time before 1819 the date of op.7. It can be assumed that Martin thought of invention horns for this music.
