Georg Philipp Telemann ( 1681 - 1767)

  • Concerto a 3 ex F a Cornu,  Flauto con Cembalo et Fagotto

This is the original title of the manuscript. It says that the two solo instruments are accompanied by cembalo and bassoon. However, the single parts name the violoncello for the basso part. As another possible solo instrument the horn part names the viola in brackets.
The flute part is written in the French key. It is one third lower than our treble clef today. This special French key might be a reference to the use of an alto recorder.
The music is edited almost without any addition in articulation and remarks. Only the original bows of phrases are printed. This should make it possible for musicians to interpret individually. There are a number of books published about musical interpretations of that time which could also be useful for this piece of music, too.
Finally, I owe Raimund Jedeck and the Library of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Schwerin a debt of gratitude. He made this editions possible. In the library there lies the manuscript of this music with the signature mus 5400/1.
