According to the literature, the concerti for 3 horns were composed
between 1800 and 1811. Schneider often made concert tours together with
the hornists Boetticher and Marquart. They had big success with these

Biography.
The mentioned concerti for three horns in E major were kept in the library in
Darmstadt (court library) and burnt in 1994 during the war. Fortunately, copies
were found in a collection in the USA, which were copied before the war
(1913/1914) from the music in Darmstadt. Thus the concerti for three horns are
rare exemplars. In the 18th/19th century, concerti for three and four horns were
composed frequently, but only a few are kept.
