C.Dittrich
Divertissement for Horn concertato,
Flute, 2 Clarinets, 2Horns,Trompet, Kettledrum and Strings
Below the title page of the 1st
Violin can be seen. The probable owner, M. Schneider, and the date 1839 is
written on this sheet by hand. Unfortunately, the life dates of C. Dittrich
are unknown. Maybe, he was a horn player at the court of
Chemnitz, who printed his work at J.G. Häcker at his own expense.
This composition, the Divertissement Op.8 of C. Dittrich,
appears probably in the music register of Hoffmeister, but for the solo
instrument Basstrombone. It is possible that this is an arranged
version based on the print for horn.
The music seems to be more like an Andante, Theme and
Variations. It has the attraction of former salons (drawing-rooms) and music
of virtuoso.
