Frederic Duvernoy belonged to the most respected horn players in Paris of the early 19th century. He played the solo horn at the opera and was professor at the Conservatorium. On advertisements for the opera there was often an extra remark that the horn part would be played by Duvernoy. He composed concertos and chamber music for his instrument, wrote a school for horn which still receives attention today because he played exclusively the invention horn (Natural horn). This piece of music will enrich the repertory of today. The title does not quiet correspond to the original. Usually, the piano was named as the solo instrument, so here too, and the horn as the accompanying instrument. The print for this version can be found in the collection of C.F. Becker in the music library of Leipzig.
