Music at the Court of Schwerin

Johannes Sperger 1750 - 1812

  • Quartet for Horn, Violin, Viola and Bass in E flat Major

Sperger was born in Feldberg (Valtice/Czechia, today Austria) in 1750. He was trained as a bass player and worked at courts of Großwardstein and Eisenstadt. He was employed at the court of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He died in 1812.

The manuscript of this concerto( mus 5190/21 ) is kept in the music collection of the library Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin.
