Mozart composed this opera during his journey to Italy 1770. He had it started in Bologna on September 29th, 1770. It was played for the first time in Milan on 26-12-1770.

At first only two was Tutti horns scheduledly for the Arie Nr.13 " Lungi da te, mio bene ". This setting was on request of the singer Pietro Benedetti, called for Sartorino, almost already ready, as Mozart it altered.

An additional solo horn part was on request of the 1st hornists of the Milano scala after the first orchestra rehearsal inserted.

Both settings of this aria exist certainly today.

The horn literature is relatively unknown for a solo horn this Mozartian work even experts. This aria seems in the piano reduction to the 250th birthday to make it possible for concerning chamber music concerts punctual to. As information for the historical correct performance, the nature horn is D in the atmosphere. The part of the "Sifare" (it and Farnace are the sons of the King Mitridate) can be sung by a soprano or Countertenor.
